A blessing given by William McBride, Patriarch upon the head of Elizabeth Shipley, daughter of John & Nancy Anderton, bom Dec 22, 1828 Lancashire England.

Sister Elizabeth in the name of the Lord Jesus I lay my hand upon thy head and by the authority of the holy Priesthood I seal upon thee a patriarchal blessing is thou will give heed there unto is shall be a comfort to thee in time and a guide unto thee through thy future life I say unto thee lift up thy head & rejoice for thou art one of the daughters of Zion & numbered among the daughters of Israel & in a former dispensation thou wast chosen & set apart to come forth in the dispensation we now live to bear thy part in the redemption of Zion, the restoration of Israel and the establishment of the kingdom of God on the earth. This mission thou didst agree to perform before thou came here and in obedience to the new & everlasting covenant thou shalt perform all thou didst agree to accomplish and thou shall obtain all the blessings that was promised unto thee by the ancient Patriarchs of old even the blessings promised unto the daughters of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob for thou art of that lineage through the loins of Ephraim. I seal upon thee life health & strength and power of the Priesthood that pertaineth to thy sex to bring all thy sons & daughters and kinsfolk into the new & everlasting covenant & according to thy faithfulness thou shalli go into the Temple of the Lord and administer unto them ordinances in connection with thy companion that shall produce their salvation and lead them into the presence of the Father & the Son, both the living and the dead if thou will contend for those blessings thou shall obtain them even the blessings of the heavens above and the earth beneath are thine and thou shall be a blessing to all those that are associated with thee. thy heart shall be touched with understanding and lit up as a candle and shall be able to understand and administer comfort to those that are afflicted & under thy administration the sick shall be healed and they will rise up and call thee blessed and as thou shall administer to their wants, they shall administer to thy needs & thou shall rejoice in the labor of thy hands. Thy last days shall be thy best days and I seal upon thee eterftal life to come forth in the morning of the first Resurrection and with thy companion shall spend upon thy inheritance with thy children, thy friends and the connection and according to-thy, faith and works I seal this upon thee in the name of Jesus. Amen
